Understand the dichotomy about the free market - that is a conundrum


And a real question from the other side of the coin - I'm guessing there are a lot of people that are against the tariffs for various reasons, but they would be very much in favor of a tax or fee on US companies that don't provide what they consider a living wage or that pollute the environment excessively. Haven't completely thought it through, but other than lines on a globe is there any real difference between tariffs and taxes/fees like these? Seems like you should either be for both or against both...

Everybody has things they claim to despise in others - until someone from their tribe is guilty of it.

I don't claim to know enough about tariffs to positively know if they are good or bad. I am a believer in the free market - as long as all providers are held to same regulations/standards.
