I'm going the next time it is in NYC
My wife has relatives a short train ride away in South Orange, NJ and they know the city like the back of their hand. So when we aren't playing we will go to some great restaurants (e.g. Indian restaurants in East Village...), maybe a Broadway show and maybe a museum - but it takes planning.
Thing is, you have to plan ahead for a NYC trip and while more expensive I don't believe the ACCT is something you do on a shoestring budget if you are a fan. I understand with media credentials TSL can go to the close ones on the cheap but for us fans tickets are a little more difficult to come by if the ACCT is held in Greensboro or Charlotte - not impossible but way more difficult. At the end of the day the conference needs to do what is best long term and unless I had a spreadsheet on the financials of holding the ACCT in Brooklyn vs other sites, I can't really say.
Where I agree big time are your comments on the conference TV network - Swofford got badly outplayed there.
