ACCT venues and distances to universities

Driving Distances to Brooklyn / Charlotte / Washington DC / Atlanta / Orlando (closest venue in parathesis)

Boston College = 210 / 834 / 434 / 1,074 / 1,280 miles (Brooklyn)
Clemson = 759 / 137 / 570 / 123 / 556 miles (Atlanta)
Duke = 487 / 145 / 258 / 384 / 619 miles (Charlotte)
Florida State = 1,098 / 444 / 670 / 261 / 259 miles (Orlando by 2 miles over Atlanta)
Georgia Tech = 866 / 244 / 638 / 0 / 439 miles (Atlanta)
Louisville = 759 / 474 / 608 / 420 / 858 miles (Atlanta)
Miami = 1,285 / 733 / 1,053 / 668 / 240 miles (Orlando)
North Carolina = 499 / 141 / 271 / 381 / 622 miles (Charlotte)
North Carolina State = 509 / 168 / 279 / 407 / 595 miles (Charlotte)
Notre Dame = 705 / 674 / 612 / 676 / 1,114 miles (Washington DC)
Pittsburgh = 392 / 448 / 246 / 865 / 970 miles (Washington DC)
Syracuse = 251 / 727 / 373 / 964 / 1,212 miles (Brooklyn)
Virginia = 346 / 272 / 117 / 511 / 810 miles (Washington DC)
Virginia Tech = 498 / 173 / 260 / 410 / 695 miles (Charlotte)
Wake Forest = 566 / 80 / 337 / 319 / 602 miles (Charlotte)

Personally, I wouldn't drive more than 400 miles (a tad over 6 hours) before considering flying. Looking at the list above, I assume there are realistically probably 4 to 5 schools that would make the drive to Brooklyn (BC, SU, Pitt, UVa and NOVA/Richmond Tech fans). There are realistically 8 schools (CU, Duke, GT, UNC, NCSU, UVa, VT and Wake) within driving distance of Charlotte. DC has 8 schools within driving distance (Duke, UNC, NCSU, Pitt, SU, UVa, VT and Wake). Atlanta has 6 schools less than 400 miles from them (CU, Duke, FSU, GT, UNC and Wake), although one can argue that Tech, Louisville and NCSU fans could make that drive as it's just a little over 400 miles; which means there could be as many as 9 schools within driving distance. Orlando has 2, arguably 3, schools within driving distance to Orlando (FSU, Miami and maybe GT).

Of the 5 venues, Brooklyn is closest to 2 schools, Charlotte is closest to 5, DC closest to 3, Atlanta closest to 3 and Orlando is closest to 2.

To me, Charlotte is a no-brainer, followed by DC and Atlanta as good choices. Brooklyn starts to get out there and Orlando is just plain far away. But, NY and Orlando have other entertaining lures to them that the other cities don't have.

And just out of curiosity, I've searched travel distances to Virginia Beach, if they could ever get their a new 18,000 seat NBA-style arena off the ground. Only 6 schools are within driving distance to there, and it is not closer than Brooklyn, Charlotte, DC, Atlanta or Orlando to any particular university on the list.

Distances to Virginia Beach:

Boston College = 561 miles
Clemson = 474 miles
Duke = 201 miles
Florida State = 793 miles
Georgia Tech = 581 miles
Louisville = 570 miles
Miami = 976 miles
North Carolina = 214 miles
North Carolina State = 202 miles
Notre Dame = 811 miles
Pittsburgh = 445 miles
Syracuse = 515 miles
Virginia = 178 miles
Virginia Tech = 324 miles
Wake Forest = 280 miles

And after Will Stewart's TSL success, he will invest billions of dollars into the Roanoke economy, convincing Disney USA to build a new theme park there, build a state of the art international airport, turn Roanoke into the new digital hub for America and bring in billions to other industry there, he will build a new 20,000 seat NBA-style arena there to host the ACCT and an 80,000 seat pro-style football stadium. After this, Will becomes the new ACC commissioner and Tech becomes the new darling of the ACC. OK, back from La La Land. So just for fun, if the ACCT or ACCCG were held at such venues in Roanoke, 8 (arguably 10 with GT and UL) would be drivable. And Roanoke will be closer to 6 universities than the other venues. Below are the distances to Roanoke:

Boston College = 675 miles (closest to Brooklyn)
Clemson = 326 miles (closest to Atlanta)
Duke = 129 miles (closest to Roanoke)
Florida State = 638 miles (closest to Orlando)
Georgia Tech = 433 miles (closest to Atlanta)
Louisville = 427 miles (closest to Roanoke)
Miami = 928 miles (closest to Orlando)
North Carolina = 129 miles (closest to Roanoke)
North Carolina State = 156 miles (closest to Roanoke)
Notre Dame = 590 miles (closest to Roanoke)
Pittsburgh = 339 miles (closest to Washington DC)
Syracuse = 542 miles (closest to Brooklyn)
Virginia = 121 miles (closest to Washington DC)
Virginia Tech = 42 miles (closest to Roanoke)
Wake Forest = 106 miles (closest to Charlotte)
