Can't speak to taking the train in the US, but I absolutley loved

the train on my couple of trips to Europe.

See the world. No hassles of driving or traffic. 1000x more comfortable and aggrivation-free compared to flying.

For the most part, I am an ugly American who thinks we do things better than the rest of the world. But mid-distance travel is one thing we got wrong in this country.

Driving is great for maybe 150-200 miles, tops. Flying is almost necessary once you get up around 600-800 miles. But all those trips in between those two distances would be much better served by rail travel. But we just don't make it very accessible or affordable in this country.
