Have a question about Home Health Care. We are paying way too much->

to keep my dad at home. He is physically healthy as a horse, but just needs someone there all the time..just in case. He has dementia and we need someone around. He is 95 and I'd bet my house he will live to be 100+. He has had this for a few years, and has had ZERO physical problems associated with it. Problem is, his short term memory is about 5 seconds.

That's the backstory. My mom just died in the past month and we are scrambling. $22/hour for Comfort Keepers. It's a shame because we found 2 ladies who like him, who we are crazy about, and who he likes as well..BUT, $5000/month not counting overnight may not be sustainable for years. We are taking turns spending the night, but that is pretty tough as well. We all work, so it is a real juggling act and I don't know how long THAT is sustainable. He is DETERMINED to stay in his house of almost 70 years, (none of us are in a position to move in) and we have promised to do our best to let him stay.

My wife says I always go to the Lounge when i am completely stumped, and usually get some good advice (and some helpful sarcasm too!). Well, I am completely stumped!!

I know some of you are facing similar challenges. How are you handling it? I figure the cost of keeping him going in the house (if we had someone overnight) including food is upwards of $100K per year the way we are doing it now. Any of you been able to find independent people for less? We're in Richmond and would offer these ladies to work straight for us. They'd make a lot more and we would pay a lot less. BUT, they are all under contract, and we may be too..saying we won't poach their people.

I figured it was worth a shot. I have NO CLUE otherwise..Any thoughts or have any of you guys faced this and come up with a workable solution?

Thanks
