For example in college football if VT was playing 2 away games against teams from the same state on back-to-back weeks, then VT is not allowed to remain the state for the week in between the games for academic reasons. VT must return to Blacksburg after the first game and travel back to that state at a later date for the second game. I would think there are similar rules in place for the other sports. I am assuming the rules are place to keep the student-athlete from missing physical time in the classroom for extended periods of time.
