Ugh, gate valves are the bane of my existence.

I work in commercial construction, and I can't even begin to count the number of overtime hours I've had to work because we've encountered an old gate valve that won't close/hold water. We end up having to do a building shut down to replace the valve so that we can demo/modify the plumbing.

Good on you for your conquest against gate valves.
