If there's one thing I admire about UVA...

It's their knowledge of basketball. Their fans are probably the MOST knowledgeable about every facet of the game. I was joking with family that UVA gets excited over the most minuscule and unimportant things like shot clock violations and the other team turning the ball over. What does that sound like though?

It sounds like us in Lane Stadium after a team false starts. Or it sounds like us when we are able to stop a running back from breaking a 3rd and 7 into a 1st down early in the first quarter. It's a testament to how intelligent each fan base is. In football, we know the momentum changers and importance of every down.

UVA fans know that defensive resistance is what got you to #1 in the nation. They know a good offensive possession when they see one. Better yet, they know a good DEFENSIVE possession when they see one. They point out how big the pick-and-rolls are and how important defensive help is. It's something that I'm jealous of. We have a knowledgeable basketball fanbase, but its certainly the minority.

Imagine being Michigan State or Wisconsin. You get years where you national competitors in football AND basketball. I guess we can add Alabama into that group as well, before they squashed by 30 against Nova.
