What I’ve seen so far is that the bridge structure that collapsed was only


half of the eventual full length. Another section was to be erected so it would be twice as long. What appeared to be an end support was actually a mid-span support. The renderings showed what appeared to be a cable-stayed structure from a mid-span tower. It’s been reported as a correction to earlier reports that the tower and cables were for looks only and that the structure was designed as a truss that was strong enough for that span and load. This reminds me of the Kansas City hotel years ago when two concrete mezzanine crashed down onto the atrium floor below while a party was going on. Terrible tragedy. We will eventually find out what caused this.
