I disagree with your premise because you are equating regular season games
to the NCAA Tournament. The Chaminade loss was huge - I remember it well. But UVa lost on the biggest stage last night in front of a national audience while arguably being the tournament favorite.
The Chaminade game made a lot of headlines for sure but UVa still made the NCAA tournament that year if I'm not mistaken.
The "hugeness" of an upset isn't just based on talent, it is also based on the importance of the game and UVa lost a whole lot more last night than they did when they lost to Chaminade.
