I think they have clear weather down there all but 10-20 days out of the year. They get the training commands, as well as the fleet squadrons who send detachments down there for training. They may still have an “aggressor” squadron down there for air to air practice engagements.

The air station also gets a variety of “interesting” aircraft passing through heading to/from points south. You never know what might be parked on the tarmac from one day to the next...
