Hard to justify the cost


Temple already has a nice place to play (Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles) that can be easily reached by students (Broad Street subway line). More importantly, there is a ton of parking for tailgating and the location is more convenient for everyone but the students. They don't draw well even with low ticket prices (as low as $98/adult and $30/youth for a season ticket; 6 games) There is very little interest in Temple sports in Philadelphia; it really is a pro sports town. If you ever went to any of the VT-Temple games, you saw that Temple had far less fans than we did. They would give tickets away and still not have 5,000 of their own fans. Don't be too impressed with any of their recent attendance figures; they are very inflated. Temple has a nice on-campus basketball facility that rarely fills up. In this era of decreasing game attendance it seems too risky to me to spend so much for an on-campus stadium.
