I feel sorry for a pitcher if he has a perfect game through

9 innings and the game goes into extra inning. Losing a perfect game over a forced base runner (because of the rule) has to be a hard pill to swallow. I know of 2 MLB pitchers who had a perfect game going in extra innings and both ended up losing the game.

1. Harvey Haddix (May 26, 1959) was perfect through 12 innings only to lose the game in the 13th inning.

2. Pedro Martinez (June 3, 1995) was perfect through 9 innings only to lose the game in the 10th inning.

Yes. FWIW 2 perfect games went into extra innings too. -- VTHokie2000 04/23/2018 5:10PM
