I know that a majority on here want Thomas gone but...
I think he's more likely to remain. What kind of contract extension will Babcock give him is the question? A one year extension would hurt recruiting and a 3-year extension will backfire if we continue to have losing seasons. Of course, Babcock could eat Thomas' two remaining years and find another head coach next May.
As for Thomas' excuses, it is true that losing Duff and having Davenport not at 100% really hurt our offense since both were top hitters last season. If Whitcomb would've been healthy, she had the potential to be a good offensive player too. I agree with Thomas that our future is bright pitching-wise. He and his staff need to figure out how to generate more runs. Maybe Babcock gives him an extension if Thomas makes changes to his staff or finds a proven hitting coach? Then again, as many on here have posted the past year or so, Thomas may be the biggest problem and our offensive woes will just continue next season.
