"Intent in scheduling" probably is considered into the equation for some...


and would be highly subjective IMO. If a particular team is a perennial top 10 school and a media darling, that "intent in scheduling" probably works. A good example is OSU's natty a few years back when their only loss was to a 6-6 Hokie team. If Boise State, for example, were 12-1 with wins over 3 other top 25 OOC teams and maybe one other MWC top 25 team, but with a loss to a 6-6 Tech, BSU would have been left out the equation and likely not even be in the top 10.

Swarbrick has the right idea. If ND could go undefeated, scheduling a currently mediocre team like Texas 10 years ago would look good in the eyes of the committee because ND would be a media darling at 12-0.
