Still, it's being uneducated through high school about what college really
is for. college is not to go party and have a good time and just get a degree. That doesn't cut it anymore. But "Just get a degree, and you'll make money" is still being drilled into the heads of youth.
I went to Tech to do Civil Engineering. We had to go to open houses to see what we were interested in. I went to Civil and then Mining. I ended up choosing mining because they were similar disciplines, except there's a bunch more money in mining (and I liked the professors better). Too much nowadays is about choosing whatever you want to do rather than what's practical. What I'd want to do is travel around the world and attend sporting events. However, I'm not suited to make money doing that and a lot of millennials do what they want, not what they have to do to make things work.
