OK a couple of questions regarding weight loss.


I remember going through the routine as well in high school. 20-25 lbs in 3-4 days...repeat rinse. I am not sure this 5 day loss and 24-hour gain that MMA guys do applies to wrestling though.

But I thought they do skin testing and force you to certify a weight these days preventing wrestlers from doing the yo-yo method of weight loss? How do they circumvent this?

I recall weighing in 2-3 hours before a match not 24 hours, which does not allow you to hydrate and/or regain much strength. How soon before a match does a wrestler weight in these days? Also, for tourneys we had to weigh in multiple days usually with a pound or two allowance.

I guess I thought they implemented a bunch of stuff to prevent all this nonsense. I could see off-season gains....but when the season came they pretty much needed to have their weight consistently under control (say +- 8 lbs and they could only drop one weight class during the season, etc)
