for football. Let's be honest, ACC softball except for FSU, has been disappointing and underachieving for some time. It's been FSU and the G-5 talent level ACC programs. UVA and Tech are probably the #5 and #6 softball programs in the state behind 1. JMU, 2. Liberty, 3. Radford, and 4. Longwood. Tech is 5th and UVA may be 6th?

The good news is Tech and NC State just hired a new softball coaches, UVA has upgraded their softball facilities, and Duke looked respectable in their first season. UNC, Notre Dame, Louisville, and a few others need to step up their game. I doubt the ACC will ever be at the same level as the SEC or Pac 12 (because of their warmer weather and regional talent), but it should be at least the third best of the P-5 softball conferences.
