Lacrosse recruit
In New Jersey, girl's lacrosse plays to one overall champion. For the 14th time in 19 years, Moorestown won that title. When viewed over the last 20 years, Moorestown is the #1 girl's lacrosse program in the country. With the dominance of the McDonogh School (a private school recruiting powerhouse who went 9 years between losses) the past 10 years, Moorestown is still the #1 public school in the last 10 years. The VT 2018 team started 2 Moorestown players, Tristan McGinley and Julia Bolte. According to the Moorestown website, there were a total of 27 alumni playing D-1 lacrosse including 6 who were captains/co-captains of their teams. The star for UNC who was one of 5 finalists for player of the year is also an alumni. Obviously, the Moorestown program is well known to all college coaches. Two of the top seniors are headed to JMU with others going to Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Penn and VCU. (Note: I may be a little biased as my daughter played for this program and I have seen many games over the last 20 years).
I was able to see 3 play-off games including the final. I am not alone in thinking the best player on the Moorestown team is a junior, Kayla Frank. She is not only one of the top scorers but she is one of the best midfield defenders I have ever seen. She plays like her hair is on fire. The good news, she is a VT recruit. She is the type of elite talent that is needed to compete for a national title.
