Trotz was miffed that GM MacLellan did not extend contract last Summer

But I do not blame MacLellan at all as Trotz needed a fire lit under him. And guess what the fire lit by GM MacLellan worked as the Caps won the Cup finally. You could argue that an extension should have been offered by the GM but the bottom line is the Caps got what they wanted the Stanley Cup even if it meant they lost their coach. I will take the Cup over a coach any day because in today's day and age winning back to back Cups is very difficult. Kudos to the Penguins and Blackhawks for what they have done in the present time but the reality is it is very difficult in today's NHL to win multiple Cups with the same guys. The Caps still have a good team and it will still be strong if they can resign Carlson no matter who the coach is.
