How is that a feature?

I get that an organization may want control over a secondary market when people are selling their tickets. However, there is no secondary market when a person decides to give away, donate, give as a gift, etc. tickets to someone else when money doesn't exchange hands. If I want to donate tickets for 1 game to my church or give it as a birthday gift to someone, then why should the organization have any say in the matter?
