Went to practice this week. Was greeted warmly by everyone....coaches and wrestlers. The coaches took time with all the guests (much more than reasonably expected given practice was intense and ongoing). Coach Molinaro directed the practice. New transfer Myers loves the VT campus and atmosphere. Dance was there with 2 Davidson wrestlers and guess what....Joey can still bring it(found out he did a clinic at CHS the next day). A BIG thank you to JARED Haught who took the time after a hard practice to wrestle with my 6 year old grandson. The room is pretty impressive with 4 USA wrestlers (Ty, Coach M, DMF and Mikhi), 2 AA(Z), 7 former AAs and a former Olympian (Frayer prepped DMF and Mekhi freestyle the whole practice). Physically impressive looking (184/197?) kid from Alabama, need to find out more about him. 2 sets of brothers in the room. Haught/Smeltzer/Borst went at it right in front of us(intense). Borst needs to gain 10-15 to challenge at 285. Myers matched Joey pretty evenly. Sleigh showed his athleticism during his time with Ty/Haught. AFTER 2+ hard hours, several stayed for further instruction instead of heading to the showers!! Good sign. Wrestling is one intense, physically demanding sport!!!!!!!!!
