I still don’t see this as a precedent-setting event. It all comes down to what Bitter was hired to do. If he wasn’t paid to specifically create or manage a twitter account- and I think the above info would have come out and specifically stated that- then he did the work on his own and owns the product of his work.
The only reason that there is a lawsuit is because the employer failed to spell out this specific conditions and expected results in the initial agreement. And while the work was being done, RT both benefited from it, and did not tell Bitter to stop working on it, so I don’t see a case here.
