Agreed, it's not as bad as it looks. He's been a good coach at USF and WKU

he took over those programs at their nadir and built them back up. The first season was always a struggle at each of his first three stops. I'm not sure he switched Offenses and Defenses like he is at FSU in year 1 at other stops, but that's not an easy chore. Fuente keeping Foster was a key component to us not having an adjustment dip.

Fuente was 26-23 when he was hired at VT. Taggart was 47-50. Taggart took WKU in their first season in FBS from 2-10 to a bowl game in 3 years. He took USF from 2-10 to 10-2 in 4 years. His 7-5 Oregon season followed a 4-8 season from Helfrich.

What I saw on Saturday was absurd. They were a case study for a poorly coached team. But I don't expect it will stay that way. He's not a bad coach and they have talent.

But for Taggart at FSU, the damage may be done. I think he's a good coach, not a national championship level coach. I don't think he will regularly threaten Clemson and he very well may fall behind UF and Miami quickly. With this start, he's alienated so many people that even if he regroups to win 8-9 games in future seasons, that won't be enough.
