I can't blame them.

They've seen this (just like we have) over and over again. Tech comes in with a lot of hype, the team ignites more of it in pregame/before kickoff, and then we give up a TD on the opening drive (momentum killer #1). Then we get the ball, fans are extremely pumped to see how our offense does, and we go three and out (momentum killer #2). Then our defense brings up third downs (key play guys! it's going to be different this time!) and we give up a huge gainer (momentum murderer #3). What is there to cheer about or praise here?

Tell me one time (in primetime) in recent years where our team has fed off of the energy and attention to force three and outs or better yet just take a commanding lead? I've seen this with Ohio State, Tennessee (not at Lane but still applicable seeing that we had a large amount of fan support), Clemson, and now ND. So have Kirk and Chris. They'll hype up enter sandman, talk about how threatening Lane is for a team to play at, and then kickoff happens. It's depressing that we have a football culture here at Tech to have one the best fanbases, sometimes a very good team, and great personnel just to fall flat on our faces to embarrass ourselves in the spotlight.
