The trophy was returned to the Friends of Coal association in Charleston in 2005. It sat in their offices for a couple of years collecting dust and was placed in storage. It has since been lost. I called their offices and asked them directly. I was informed that it was taken back to represent a potential WVU-Marshall series that never came to be. College football has many 'once-was' such trophies that thrive for a few years and then are noted only in history books. The Black Diamond is definitely one of those.
