Agree, it will never happen, but


"IF" it did happen most of the members the Big 10, SEC, and Pac 12 would stay together just based on history and rivalries. I also think UVA would want to remain in the same conference at UNC. I think the 2 biggest problems with geographic pairings are (1) the Southeast is loaded with too many strong programs (ie: throwing Miami, FSU in with the SEC teams is brutal) while (2) the Rocky Mountains region is competitively weak. I would expect Notre Dame to want to be in an eastern or northeastern conference rather than being placed in the Midwest (Big 10) even though it makes the most sense geographically. I've played around with trying to form eight 8 and 10 team conferences and it never has worked out fairly (some conferences being much stronger than others mainly because of geography).
