... more than just his ACT score being out of line with his high school GPA. There may be a question of whether or not some of the courses that he took in high school qualify towards the NCAA's core admissions requirements.

Since he apparently hasn't been cleared by now, I think that the odds are very high that he'll redshirt this year and have four years left to play starting next season. And who knows? That may actually turn out to be for the best.
