D'Amour hasn't even coached his first game at Tech.


I agree that he's made some mistakes early PR-wise and maybe his camps aren't as good as others (I'd give that time to develop since he's only been here for 6 months), but Whit hired him to improve the program, to get us back to being competitive in the ACC, and go to the NCAA Tournament. From what I've read, he's a better recruiter than Scot Thomas (based on his days at Missouri and Kennesaw State) and a better developer of talent. He appears to be a player's coach from the reaction from his former players. Like any new coach at Tech, I'm willing to give him 4 years, but I think he does it in 2 years. I'm interested to see if we can run the bases better and play small ball and be mentally tougher. I also want to see if Gillis can improve Thomas' pitchers and see what the newcomers do in the circle. IMHO, I think the ACC will begin to improve. It's been FSU and the G-5 teams for some time as far as I'm concern. I think Notre Dame, UNC and Duke will improve. Even UVa will get better. It would be nice to see Tech dominate Liberty, JMU, Radford, and Longwood. That shouldn't be asking too much for D'Amour's first 2 seasons (okay...maybe JMU during his 3rd year... ha ha).
