They had attitude, passion, and skill.

They never crossed the line with a coach, as far as I know...and they weren’t afraid to work hard.

Don’t confuse a lack of self control (crossing the line with a coach, showing up to camp 40 lbs. over weight) with desirable football qualities such as attitude, passion, and skill.
