Late January/early February are when rankings really mean anything. Winning key conference matchups (for any conference) are what tests every team’s mettle. I’d love us to stay in the top 10, but losing 2 of the next 5 will knock most any team near the edge out of a top 10 ranking. Teams like MSU, Kansas, Duke and in recent years UVa seem to be the few teams immune to dropping in a ranking solely based on their name recognition.
