He probably makes $150-200K (or maybe more if he gets overtime). It's harder to know what his wife makes because "financial advisor" means, but let's say she makes $100K.
They're definitely in the top 5% of incomes nationally. That's not necessarily the typical experience of a person missing a paycheck.

Top 50% ==> $62K
Top 25% ==> $110K
Top 10% ==> $180K
Top 5% ==> $235K
Top 2% ==> $335K
Top 1% ==> $435K
