Nix nix VT or VT nix Nix? Now it’s Nix and Nix! And cash money too.

Kind of surprised that he is leaving VT, although he is joining his brother, Derrick. He has SEC history, including as a DC, but I don’t understand leaving VT, unless he was pushed out or he’s making a lot more money. I would think going from S to LB coach would be a lateral move, unless he’ll gain more responsibility? They just brought on a new DC, so maybe that’s it.

Then again, he was making $200K at VT, where his brother, RB coach was making $400K at Ole Miss.

While I know regular coaching turnover is the new normal, if it comes down to money to keep VT coaches around, then I’m OK with VT paying more money for football coaches at the expense of other sports expenditures.

Unless he was an outright bad coach, this is a significant loss for VT. Not because he was this amazing coach that was worth 2-3x his pay. It’s the overall loss of having to replace him, the loss of strategic relationships that he built with recruits over the last year, the cost of having to now find another replacement and training them up and integrating them into the VT system, etc. And VT again just went through this with Wiggins.

Not saying this is a negative on Fuente or Foster, but the system that allows or causes two position coaches to leave within a year might need to be tweaked in order to better retain their staff. Whether it’s money or whatever else.
