I am not sure it matters that much where in the 1st Round


a player gets drafted. The important thing is that the player IS drafted in the 1st Round because that means a guaranteed contract for the player. Whereas a player drafted in the 2nd Round is not guaranteed a contract. Also, the NBA doesn't have a hard salary cap, so the player can still get a max contract even if the team goes over the salary cap.
