Fun story about Tucumcari


in 1994 we were driving from Kansas City to San Diego for Christmas and took the direct route diagonally across Kansas. After an interminable day on the plains we finally joined up with I-40 at Tucumcari and pulled into a gas station in the dark. At the next pump over was a flatbed tow truck with the weirdest vehicle on the back - an old van made up to look like a dog. Wasn't until a couple of months later when "Dumb and Dumber" came out that we realized what we'd seen. I think they were hauling it back to Rhode Island - at least that's where the sign on the side said the company was based.
