I get it. Hate having to wait, but
if pace of play is moving - whether my round is 4 hours or 4-1/2 hours, usually doesn't really matter to me - spend a half hour less at the 19th hole. I mean, unless you are playing professionally, golf is supposed to be your hobby or pastime - the more time you get to spend on your hobby the better right?
Again not talking about having to stand and wait. I'd rather walk too, enjoy the time outside, exercise, etc. Riding is usually much faster, but not as enjoyable.
Enjoy your hobby - don't rush through it just to get to the next thing.
IMHO do what is easy about the pin. If everyone is short of it, don't waste time walking up and back to pull it. If you walk by it and everyone is close and some want it pulled. Fine.
As far as the ball hitting the pin? In non-tourney action - When putting, if it hits the pin it's in.
