I'm sure he would have wanted a long time starters gig. Since that is not to be, he's getting the next best thing, IMO.

A pretty long career in the NFL, making a lot of money, and when his career is done, he'll have healthy mind, bones, and joints. In the end, nothing wrong with that.

Just ask Don Strock. Relative to the era, Strock made a boat load of money as a career backup at Miami. He accepted the role as a career backup, and the Dolphins were quite content to pay him well as a very good insurance policy.

Strock retired with a very healthy body. He didn't take the everyday beating the starter did, and in those days, the QB wasn't protected like they are today.
