and 1 of those I am not sure why its automatically considered to be a "bad thing." The 2 I am going to need more information on is the doctor's appointments and helping their child study for a test. The reason I need more information about the doctor's appointment is because it is possible the child attends school away from his/her hometown and he/she needs to schedule an appointment with his/her doctor in his/her hometown while still at school. It is also possible the child has a busy work/class schedule and is not able to call the doctor during the hours the office is open.

The other one I am going to need more information on is helping a child study for an exam. If the student wants help to study and his/her classmates are not available at the time, then I am trying to figure out why it is a bad thing to ask a parent for help. It is possible the child is majoring in the same thing that his/her parent majored in when in school and he/she wants to follow the same career path as that parent.

The 1 I don't think should be automatically viewed as a "bad thing" is a parent making tuition payment. In my case, my parents got divorced when I was 7 years old. As a part of the divorce decree, they each agreed to pay for half of my and my brother's undergraduate tuition and basic educational expenses. At the time they believed it was important that their 2 sons graduate college debt free. If either son wanted to continue with their education, then we would be required to pay for it ourselves. If a parent chooses to give this "gift" to his/her child, then I am not sure that should be automatically viewed as a bad thing. At least I don't see that as being any different than if parents decide to invest money into a Virginia 529 or other similar state college savings plan.
