Big fish/small pond syndrome. Buzz is all over papers in Roanoke/Richmond right now. This story barely makes second page in sports section in Pittsburgh - pro sports much more important. He can be big man in Blacksburg, or not even recognized by some in Pittsburgh, Miami, Boston or Atlanta.
Quality of life. We don't think of it often, but coaches do have life outside coaching - at least some time in the off season. Yes, as hard as it is for some novaites to believe, some people like living in a more rural area as opposed to a big city.
Syracuse? good history, but you think Blacksburg winters are bad? Their travel schedule for basketball must be insane.
Miami - same travel issues, scenery is better - but you really want to raise a family anywhere near UM?
