Nah...i would say that the NIT took a back seat to the NCAA in the mid 70's


and surely in 1979 when Bird and Magic played in the NCAA final...
of course, VPI won the NIT in 1973...very good bball team. UNC and NOTRE DAME were in the NIT that year
