The future looks bright

Overall, those ranking show a lot of respect for the program, especially for Mekhi and David, and slotting Bolen in at #8 at 184. I agree with that assessment, just pleasantly surprised Hunter remained that high on the mental list for non-Hokie fans after a redshirt year. Really excited to see him back next season.

Putting on my homer hat, I think Tech will have top-25 ranked wrestlers at every weight next year. Brent Moore, coming back, will have to work his way up the rankings. And at 125, Prata or Norstrem (if healthy) should be able to move up into the top 25.

I could see Korbin (13), BC (15), Mitch (18) and Borst (24 HWT) all beating those projections, but the projections are fair. After watching Mitch at Nationals, I could see him making an even bigger leap. He has loads of talent and competitiveness.

No one is ranked for Tech at 197, and that seems reasonable since we don’t know for sure who will fill that slot now – although there’s plenty of talent in the room to compete for it: Smeltzer, Howard, Hughes.
