We have more potential in basketball.
If you want a meaningful title, it might be time to start looking at our basketball program. Not now, but later down the road we'll be contending for NCAAT appearances again. Enough exposure and we'll get donors on board and recruits to start looking at Blacksburg.
Football is just a constant source of disappointment to me at this point. I'll go for it because A.) it's the only sport worth anything in the fall, B.) It represents Virginia Tech and C.) I like the people surrounding the fb program, but I'm sick of losing in big games in Lane and being the definition of mediocre. It gets very old, and when you can't win the big games, it really makes everyone lose interest. A typical big game Saturday in Lane consists of huge turnout, cause an earthquake via Enter Sandman, electric environment on kickoff and 1st quarter, and then (the best part) getting destroyed.
Basketball has achieved wins against Duke, UVA, UNC, Clemson, and most middle-of-the-road ACC teams at Cassell. We've won BIG GAMES in Cassell. Can you say the same for our football program, as of late? We don't even play a big game at home this year. Already looking forward to rooting on a struggling, gritty Tech basketball team next year.
