Stanford still runs away with Directors Cup

The problem out west appears to me to be Larry Scott. It amazes me how the powers that be continue to believe his promises.

They need to hire leadership who will put together a successful strategy to make their sporting events visible to much larger portions of the United States population so that they can gain visibility and recruit talent that knows it will get on television.

This business of trying to do this in China without shoring up this country first is not smart, and also not working. ESPN and Fox may be saturated with their time slots, but that leaves CBS and NBC to try hard to get on.

The PAC12 has let their football and men's basketball products decline so much that they don't command what Larry Scott has in his mind. We are a long time from USC dominating college football like the last time he sat down to negotiate a media deal. Pete Carroll has been with the Seattle Seahawks forever now. USC is long in the rear view mirror. Larry Scott does not have a card like USC now.

He cannot expect these networks to see the same value today. This is why I think turning ESPN down wasn't very smart.
