The counter argument is that a year in the NBA practicing against the best
is better than a year in college playing against Boston College. While staying in college may help build confidence, going to the NBA is the right decision because he is projected in the top 20 and staying in college isn't likely to make that increase dramatically on what might be a bad team. Second, the NBA he will be better training, support, coaching (theoretically), and competition to make him better. I think if anyone had a son who was projected in the first round of the draft they would encourage him to go, I know I would.
