Last year at my daughter's school -- Oakton HS -- the acceptance

rate for binding early decision was fairly high. Oakton is one of the highest ranked public schools in the state, so that is not surprising.

What is surprising is that during the regular admissions round, almost nobody was accepted, including people with SATs and GPAs that substantially exceeded VT's normal admissions range.

Non-binding early decision is a must , if the son is certain.
