I've been using a Ryobi from Home Depot for a couple months


Pretty happy with it so far. I have 1/3 acre lot and some pretty thick grass but the battery typically lasts long enough to run both the mower and the trimmer. Charge time isn't too long either. You're right on the cost of the spare battery but the trimmer costs just about the same and comes with the same battery so I went with that. Some of their other tools come with smaller batteries so watch out for that.
