Relying on JUCOs is at best a short-term answer

Except for Heard and Alford, none of the JUCO pitchers pitched reliably once the team got into the ACC schedule. Several have high velo arms, but struggled with too many BBs and/or failure to retire batters with men on base.

Same largely goes for the JUCO hitters except for Horanski, and maybe Carpenter. ACC pitchers are better than what they faced in JUCO.

How much is poor coaching, and how much is difficulty adjusting to ACC level? Probably some of both.

Now that the season is over, many of this year's JUCOs won't be returning for their senior seasons at VT - those that had good performances (Carpenter, Heard, maybe Alford) are looking to get drafted.

Some potential for Enright to get drafted too.

Nearly all of the other JUCOs reportedly are likely moving on to a DII school or may try to get waivers to play at another D1 - they're dissatisfied with coaching, level of team performance, and lack of good fit at VT

Apparently several other FR and SO are considering a transfer too.

Next year's roster may look a lot different
