Get a terrier. My Westy is just as fast as the rabbits. They stay away.


Just as fast... well, really about 2cm per 50 meters slower. So any rabbit hightails it at max speed for the fence slats, which the terrier can't fit through. Makes for a comic chase when a bunny unknowingly enters, and avoids the bloodshed.

Ground hogs, well, they're pretty big around our house. So the Westy and the hog usually just stare at each other scowling, and have a Mexican standoff. But the one living under our shed did decamp for quarters elsewhere.
