Diving coach tried to convince my son to take up diving for three years


before he did so for his senior year. He ended up finishing second in the state meet. The team won overall. A major part of the team championship was that the divers took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

More importantly, he had a lot of fun doing it. I thought it was great how supportive the divers were of one another. When divers--even those for other teams--successfully completed a dive for the first time, everyone cheered. On the unsuccessful attempts, everyone laughed with them.

Obviously, I can't guarantee your daughter will have a similar experience. However, the gymnastics background certainly helps. My son didn't have that, but did have an overall lack of fear combined with some athletic skills.
