World Golf Rankings - Half Season Review
Before I get into the data, a little explanation on how the rankings work. The rankings take your best 52 results over the last two years and divide your points by 52. If you have less than 40 results your points are divided by 40. In between it is divided by the number of tournaments played.
Each tournament is given a "strength of field" which is basically the based on the rankings of any top 200 players playing that event. So, every event Scott Vincent shows up makes that event more valuable. The event he won last week is normally a 4 pt. tournament, but having him in the field made it a 7 pt. tournament. The scores are weighted to the last 26 weeks are counted in full and then after that they gradually count less each week until they expire after two years. So to keep your ranking you are trying to reclaim your points from two seasons ago.
